TRAININGS
Child and Babysitting Safety (11-15 YRS)
A course for building a safe and successful babysitting business. Covers getting started, leadership, caregiving, safety, and prevention, playtime, and first aid tips. No CPR training in this class, see Babysitting CPR. Participation card received. No certification card for this class.
Babysitting CPR (11-15 YRS)
Teaches Child and Infant CPR participation card received. No certification card for this class.
CPR/AED/FIRST AID Training for Infant, Child, and Adult (12+ YRS)
This Medic First Aid Course covers infant, child and adult CPR and First Aid and AED certification. Save time and money by receiving this two-year, EMSA approved certification. This course is required for licensed preschool teachers, daycare workers, educators and coaches. However, anyone can benefit from these life-saving skills. Come join us for coffee, cookies and life-saving education!

SMART PHONE PHOTOGRAPHY BASICS & EDITING (16+ YRS)
Take better photos with your smart phone. Learn to "capture the moment" through greater understanding of composition, light sources, and editing in the basics class. Learn more advanced skills to create unique and artistic products, how to organize your photo files, and how to deal with the dreaded storage issue. Photo Basics class or a clear understanding of photography basics are required for the Advanced Editing class.
SMART PHONE BASICS (18+ YRS)
Beginner workshop for those who struggle, or are new to smart phones and similar technologies. This entry level hands on event will teach the basics on Android & iPhone devices.
MEDICARE 101 (18+ YRS)
Are you overwhelmed by all the choices for Medicare plans? Learn what is and is not covered by Medicare part A, B, and D and about the role of supplemental insurance plans A-N, also known as “Medi-Gap”, and proposed changes for 2020 and beyond. Class is for educational purposes only and is not a sales seminar.
HOW WILL YOU SPEND YOUR RETIREMENT SAVINGS? (18+ YRS)
Creating monthly income that lasts throughout your retirement can be tricky. A wrong decision (or lack of planning) could subject you to unnecessary taxes, penalties, and inflation. A retirement income plan is crucial to protect your assets and have sufficient income for 30+ years. If you are still working and saving, or are planning to retire in the near future, this workshop is for you! A question/ answer period is included. BRAIN GAIN (18+ YRS)
Come experience “Neurobic” fun interactive brain exercises that give your brain a creative workout beyond crossword puzzles and Sudoku. Join educational physiologist, Dr. Alice Jacobs, as we learn about the hemispheres of the brain, the predominant functions, and engage in hemisphere dominant exercises.
STATIC IN THE ATTIC: UNDERSTANDING ABOUT MEMORY AND HOW TO PRESERVE IT! (18+ YRS)
Are you noticing word grope syndrome and “senior moments?” Are you frustrated because you can’t remember names of people, but recognize faces? This workshop covers the current scientific information about memory, the components of memory, changes with age, tips and techniques for improving memory. Dr. Alice Jacobs, a leader in brain wellness lifestyle promotion leads this workshop and provides extensive materials.

Two rivers music together (0-4 YRS)
Music Together is an award-winning, research-based early childhood music and movement program for children and their caregivers. Each class consists of 45 minutes of songs, chants, dances and instrument play-alongs. This program requires that adult model and participate in class. After our 10-week session children and their families will have learned a new collection of songs, gained further musical aptitude and appreciation, and will have created wonderful shared experiences that both child and caregiver will treasure.
NEW STAR JUNIOR MUSICAL THEATRE (5-6 YRS)
Junior Theatre cast members will be cast in The Little Mermaid JR with the older kids but be given small roles with some lines and take part in some musical numbers. Juniors are not required to audition. For more information, visit www.newstarchildrenstheatre.com.
NEW STAR CHILDREN’S THEATRE (6-17 YRS)
Journey "under the sea" with Ariel and her aquatic friends in Disney’s The Little Mermaid JR.
LET’S DRAW (6-13 YRS)
Join the fun in drawing adventure for the beginner or drawing enthusiast. Learn new skills, refine your talents, or just have fun creating. Draw one line at a time and explore color using pencils, markers, crayons, pastels and watercolors. Create realistic and abstract masterpieces to take home.

LINE DANCING (18+ YRS)
Line dancing is a great way to exercise the mind and body, as well as to meet new friends! This class is graduated into 5 levels starting at “Absolute Beginner” (level 1) and graduating to the highest and most difficult level “Experienced Improver” (level 5). Students may choose two adjacent levels (1 hour of instruction) per class. On-going class, join any time.
"WILD HORSES" LINE DANCES (14+ YRS)
Join old and new friends in some good ol’ line dancing! One new line dance will be taught each day.
ROUND DANCE (16+ YRS)
Smile at your partner, listen to the music, move your feet as directed – You’re dancing! Round dancing is ballroom dancing to cues - steps are choreographed in advance. Partners know what’s coming, making it easier to lead and follow. Classes in Beginning and Intermediate waltz and multiple rhythms.
hum, strum and learn (15+ YRS)
Come play guitar with an instructor who has been playing for years. You will learn to play a new song in every class. Get comfortable playing with new people, and ready for different scenarios such as different keys. This class is designed for intermediate and above. Emphasis on playing and having fun.
INTRODUCTION TO BREWING BEER AT HOME (21+ YRS)
Join us in learn to brew beer! You’ll learn everything you need to know to make your own beer. Go over the entire brewing process taught by experienced instructors at the Red Bus Brewing Company in Folsom.

Let’s get creative! For two hours we give you detailed step-by-step instruction so you can create your own work of art. No prior painting experience required, we promise! New painting every class. Seven sessions offered!

Father-Son/Daughter Cooking Time (8+ YRS)

Looking for the extra special thing to do for Valentine’s Day? Noodles are not just noodles. Learn the difference while making Seafood Linguine with a Butter Leaf Salad with homemade dressing and garlic bread. A great date, or a way to surprise your loved one!
Food Prep Class (18+ YRS)
During this 90 minute information demo learn how to recognize healthy ingredients that will taste better and last longer. Find out the key to successful meal planning and preparation for a busy lifestyle.

Make your very own Fairy Garden! Choose from a wide variety of plants, fairy garden décor, sand rock, and moss.
DIY BASIC SUCCULENT ARRANGEMENT (10+ YRS)
Learn the basics of caring for, propagating, and decorating with succulents. In this class you will make your own arrangement to display or give as a gift.
DIY RUSTIC WOODWORK (10+ YRS)
Create your own Rustic art piece to display inside or outside your residence. Also doubles as a great gift. Both the rustic bunny and LOVE sign come unpainted and assembled. Participants will make it their own by painting, adding embellishments and ribbon.
CORNHOLE BOARD DESIGN (16+ YRS)
Get into the game with a personalized set of boards to be proud of. Design both yourself, or make it a date/BFF night and each of you design your own board. Get creative, using a ready-made decal or paint. These full-sized, regulation boards are professionally cut and later glossed by OVC, the official board maker of the California Cornhole Association.
CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP (16+ YRS)
Elevate your writing with the support of others in this safe workshop for writers of all levels. We will write short pieces side by side and critique longer pieces throughout the span of this course. A safe space to explore and play through language and story.
PASA
Come join us as we play bingo and test your luck! Meet new friends and bring a snack to share. Every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the week.
ACTIVE ADULT PROGRAM
Create friendships, meet new people, get active, and play games. Program provides active adults 55+ an avenue to recreational, educational, and wellness opportunities. Coffee, tea, and light snack is provided. For more information, visit our Active Adult Program page.

ATHLETICS CLASSES
kidz love soccer (2-10 yrs)
Children learn core soccer skills and rules for the game in a fun, age-appropriate environment. Kids are built up and nurtured using the framework of S.E.L.F. Teaching at every opportunity the value of Sportsmanship, Effort, Learning, and Fun! Weekly classes follow a seasonal curriculum of games and activities designed to provide children with the chance to build on successes and develop as athletes and as individuals. KLS jersey included!
LIL’ NINJA SKILLS CHALLENGE (3-5 YRS)
Does your little one have lots of energy and love climbing things? If so, we can teach him or her how to build upon those abilities to become an ultimate ninja! This program will build upon their ninja skills through obstacle training and prepare them to compete in our exclusive lil’ ninja obstacle course. Ninja headband included!
TINY TOT SPORTS CLASSES (3-5 YRS)
Classes teach basic skills for a variety of sports that focus on self-confidence, teamwork, and fun in a non-competitive environment. Tiny Tot T-Ball and Team Sports classes available. Parent participation is required.
BEGINNING GOLF CLINIC (4-9 YRS)
Boys and girls will learn the fundamentals of swinging, putting and body positioning. Using the ShortGolf system, we have simplified instruction so that young players can make an effective transition onto the golf course. All equipment provided.
SA SHOTOKAN KARATE (4-6 YRS)
This SA Shotokan Karate class allows young students to gain ability, learn how to listen, follow instructions and focus. Children will develop their motor skills and learn fundamental karate movements in a fun, yet disciplined way. AAU sanctioned. Each new student is supplied a Gi to wear in class.
YOUTH TENNIS H.I.T.S. PROGRAM (4-9 YRS)
H.I.T.S (Honesty, Inspiration, Teamwork, Sportsmanship) is USTA’s premier beginners tennis youth program that incorporates the fundamentals of a team sport while placing an emphasis on life skill enrichment. Kids will participate in fun activities while learning the fundamentals of tennis in a safe and supportive environment.
CORNHOLE 101 - SKILLS CLINIC (7-15+ YRS)
Come learn about the game that is growing in popularity and enjoyed by all! Perfect for all ages and abilities, our Cornhole 101 clinics will provide a basic introduction to the game, rules, strategies, throwing techniques, and more. Instructors are experienced players within the cornhole community and California Cornhole Association (CCA).
ACTIVE ADULT DROP-IN CORNHOLE (55+ YRS)
Are you looking for a fun, safe, and easy way to stay active and challenge yourself in a new skill? Drop in and learn to play the thrilling game of cornhole against others in the community. Our instructors have a true passion for the game and can accommodate all abilities and skill levels. All equipment provided.

FITNESS CLASSES
ZUMBINI (0-4 YRS)
Created by Zumba® and BabyFirst for kid’s ages aged up to 4, the Zumbini® program combines music, dance and educational tools for 45 minutes of can’t-stop, won’t-stop bonding, learning, and fun!
hatha yoga (18+ YRS)
In addition to relaxing and stretching, Yoga postures release tension, gently but firmly strengthen and tone the deeper supportive muscle structure and improve organ and glandular function. You can expect to experience greater ease of movement, an increased sense of well-being and deeper more restful sleep. Punch cards can be used for "Stretching, Relaxing and Stress Relieving Yoga" and "Strengthening Yoga" classes. Please bring a mat, blanket and pillow to class.
ZUMBA® GOLD (18+ YRS)
Zumba Gold® is for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba® class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity. Classes focus on all elements of fitness: cardiovascular, muscular conditioning, flexibility, and balance!
SENIOR STRETCH (55+ YRS)
We begin with simple stretches from head to toe that includes balance work to prevent falls. After stretching we use free weights for bone strengthening and the prevention of muscle mass loss. Non-partner, choreographed dances follow. We use a wide variety of music during the class.
WELLNESS CLASSES
TAI CHI - BASIC #3 (18+ YRS)
Qigong and Tai Chi are ancient Chinese healing and martial arts. The movements, massages, and postures improve the circulation and balance of the body’s “chi,” our vitality or “life force energy.” Studies have shown improved balance, coordination and the reduction of pain. This class is intended for beginners and experienced practitioners.
QI GONG + 8 WAYS (18+ YRS)
This course is a new approach to learning the principles of Tai Chi. By combining two programs developed by the Tai Chi Foundation; Roots & Branches Five Element Qi Gong, and The Eight Ways, students will learn simple routines that improve health, balance and increased vitality.

ZOEANNE TAFOLLA | PEDIATRIC FIRST AID/CPR/AED
Zoeanne is a certified instructor in Adult Education from UC Davis. She has over 35 years of experience facilitating CPR/First Aid/AED classes to both adults and teenagers. She is a grandmother of 12 and loves to be in the outdoors. In her class, at the end of the day students will be able to recognize, assess, and prioritize the need for first aid; provide appropriate first aid care, recognize limitations, and seek professional medical assistance when necessary.
TRE EWELL | SMART PHONE BASICS
Tre Ewell has had over 8 years of experience in consumer technology. He has spent nearly five years in the telecommunications field during that time, as has previous been employed by AT&T, T-Mobile, Best Buy, RadioShack, Direct TV and others. He is also a musician, and can play 4 different instruments! Tre has gone from being a tech salesmen to a tech humanitarian. His workshops will lay the foundation for you to empower yourself with computers, smartphones, and other consumer electronics. He says, "Let’s make technology work for you, and make it fun!"
BILL CORLEY | HOW WILL YOU SPEND YOUR RETIREMENT SAVINGS?
Bill Corley is a Certified Financial Planner as well as a Certified Income Certificate Professional with over 30 years of experience helping people with their retirement income issues. The summer after he graduated from college, he cycled across the United States...well almost. He broke is collarbone in Athens, Ohio and had to take the sag-wagon to New York City. In taking his class, you will learn ways to have your retirement income last as long as you live.
alice jacobs | Static in the attic (understanding memory and how to preserve it)
Dr. Alice Jacobs has received an Ed. D., MBA, and a CHES, which has more than qualified her for her 30+ years of University level teaching experience. In her class, you will learn about the process of memory and how to enhance it, learn the anatomy and physiology of the brain, as well as learn the latest advances in memory research. A fun fact about her is that she plays the flute in the Capitol Pops Band!
ARTS & ENRICHMENT instructors
SUSAN FRANK | DRAWING ADVENTURE & PAINTING MADNESS
Susan Frank is the instructor for Little Hands & Summer Drawing Adventure, as well as Painting Madness. She has taught art for the past 40 years to children from kindergarten-8th grade at a private school. She has a single subject teaching credential in Art, and has taught children at the City of Roseville Parks and Recreation and the Blue Line Art Gallery. She loves to read science fiction fantasy books in her free time, as well as fishing and jigsaw puzzles. Children taking her class will expect to receive the fundamentals in drawing, painting and color theory. The will experience the use of a variety of mediums and explore different drawing and painting styles. Experienced children will have the opportunity to create more challenging pieces of artwork.
Georgia Wade | TWO RIVERS MUSIC TOGETHER
Georgia Wade has been a registered Music Together teacher since 2012. She began teaching classes in Marin, CA for two years before starting Two Rivers Music Together in 2014 here in Sacramento. Singing is one of Georgia’s favorite things! Over the years, her performances have covered several genres of music; opera in Hawaii, early medieval music in New York, blues standards in LA, and folk music in Sacramento! But her most favorite thing of all is to see the kids in her class singing and dancing along with her. Music Together is an award-winning, research based early childhood music and movement program for children and their caregivers. Each class consists of 45 minutes of songs, chants, dances, and instrument play-alongs. The program requires that adults model and participate in class. After the 10-week session, children and their families will have learned a collection of songs and gained musical aptitude and appreciation.
dana hendry | new star children’s theatre & jr. musical theatre
Dana has been directing children’s theatre for 30 years, with productions in California and Canada. She loves to write songs and play guitar and piano. In taking her class, children get the chance to play a fun role with lines and be in a profession musical up on the stage in costumes, with lights and sound and a great audience applauding them. They learn to sing, dance, and act while gaining self-confidence and making friends that last a lifetime!
MIKE JACKSON | STRUM, HUM, & SIT IN!
Mike has been playing guitar for over 40 years as a single and in various bands and groups of up to 6 pieces! Mike believes that the best way to improve or expand your playing is to play with others. He was an engineering major in school, and with that he brings a unique analytical approach to the art of playing the guitar. Once you have mastered the basic left hand (chords) and right hand (strumming & finger picking), you’re ready to "apply" what you know! Playing with others will cause your playing to grow and expand, and get you out of those "ruts"!
NORM & PHYLLIS GIFFORD | LINE DANCE
Phyllis started Country Line dancing in 1981. She then began teaching at Maidu Park for the City of Roseville in 1990 and has taught line dance at several mobile home parks, Citrus Heights & Folsom Recreation Departments, and now teaches for FORPD and Cordova RPD. Norm is an internationally recognized line dance choreographer/instructor with a degree in music education and has been teaching line dance throughout the Greater Sacramento area since the early 1990’s. When you take line dancing, you can learn the basics and see the joy on your face when you get steppin’. You will meet new people and expand your interests through exercise, movement, and friendship.
LYNDA WEISS | PLAY-WELL TEKNOLOGIES
Play-well TEKnologies hosts the class Minecraft Master Engineering using LEGO. Play-Well was founded in 1997. Sacramento Manager Lynda Weiss has an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and has been with Play-Well since 2003. Lynda is supported by a staff of trained, enthusiastic, instructors, many of whom were former students of hers! She was a figure skater while growing up, and loves the ice! In taking Play-Well’s class, students will learn principles of engineering and physics by building and playing with Lego, as guided by a trained Play-Well instructor!
SHELBY MARKS | DIY Succulent Arrangement
Shelby has been running her own small business growing, propagating and selling succulents for year three years. Participants of her class will learn basic succulent care and they will create their own unique arrangement.
Jason Keyser | Rustic decor
Jason has been a woodworker and crafter for thirty years. He is about to begin his fourth year owning his own business and workshops. Jason crafts seven days a week, and not just wood. He sews, paints, and has many other creative outlets. In his class, you will learn how to paint and give wood a rustic look. His classes are more about enjoying time with others and being creative, as the construction of wood and supplies are complete and provided.
ATHLETICS & ADVENTURE INSTRUCTORS
mami endo | sa shotokan karate
Mami’s karate journey started in 2008, and they have since been consistently training 4 times a week. Getting their black belt after 6 years of hard training pushed Mami to compete at international tournaments, placing 2nd or 3rd consistently since 2014. Mami has been teaching shotokan karate for over 5 years, from preschoolers to adults. From April of 2018, Mami has also been a karate instructor for multiple schools teaching 3 times a week. The traditional Japanese karate style develops perseverance, discipline, and focus as well as teaches self defense. As for younger students, this class will improve and refine motor skills while having fun!
KIDZ LOVE SOCCER
Since 1979, Kidz Love Soccer has been dedicated to teaching youth soccer within a nurturing, recreational environment. Our emphasis is always on fun! We provide the foremost in soccer classes and camps for kids; instilling an exuberant, skillful confidence in the young player. Our classes are a perfect introduction for first time soccer players while still being fun and engaging for kids with some experience. Children will receive an age-appropriate introduction to soccer, including core skills like dribbling, passing & receiving, and shooting. They will also work to develop motor skills, eye-foot coordination and balance as well as social skills like teamwork and good sportsmanship.
FITNESS & WELLNESS INSTRUCTORS
Laura Gamez | Zumba® Gold™
Laura is a Group Fitness Instructor who designs this dance fitness class to match the skill and learning of all participants, track class attendance, promote the class, it’s products, and services to all participants. As a bonus, she leads a dance toning portion with light weights to develop bone density and maintain muscle tone. She loves and am certified to teach aqua aerobics. You can take her class if you want to get a super fun cardio dance workout that feels like you are at a party with all of your friends burning calories, losing weight, feeling good, and having fun! Class is low impact and easy on the knees!
John & Jan Szostek | TAI CHI & QI GONG
John & Jan have been teaching for 30 years through the Tai Chi Foundation. They are moving into the brand new Fair Oaks EcoHousing Development. In taking their class, students will learn the principles of Tai Chi & Qi Gong and be able to perform the exercises both in class and at home.
